Porting the MAF with an A4, related to SD tuning
I've always read that it's a bad idea to descreen, port the MAF, or run MAF ends with an A4. Something to do with the way it causes the transmission to shift? I've had my MAF disabled for a month or so while logging and tuning in SD mode and it seems to shift just fine at both part-throttle and WOT. This wasn't the case at first, I had to send my .bin off to Chris @ HPT for an update. I guess the older PCM's crank the line pressure to max when a MAF failure is detected..
Is the transmission the only reason people recommend running a stock MAF in an A4? If so, I'm thinking of either porting mine or buying MAF ends before cal'ing the MAF table. I do plan to keep the screen either way so it can continue to diffuse the incoming air, I made that mistake on my Mustang!
Comments? Would there be much to even gain from this mod on an SI car?
