Default NITTO DR 315/35/17 on 17.5 SS wheels

Have any of you guys done this ? If so how does it fit, look, and function? Please let me know as I have already bought them. I did not realize that they should be mounted on a 10.5 rim.

Follow manufacturer's recommendations. This is a subject I do not encourage. . .

Has it been done, sure there are careless installers out there that will do it. IMHO, defeats the entire purpose of buying a 315 section tire, if all you are going to do is curl up the sides, thus having less tread on the ground.

Your car, your choice. If it were me I'd buy the correct sized tires.

I agree. The guy it Nitto said it would be fine becuse the stock SS wheel are 9.5 in and the 315 will work on a 10 in rim . He said thats only 1/2 in on each side. I bought them already. Do you think I should take them back and get 275/40/17.

That's what I would do.
275s mount perfectly on a 9.5" wide rim, but is ok on a 9" rim.
stock SS rims are 17x9", btw.

stock 02 SS rims are 17x9 not 17x9.5 I am worse off than I Thought. Found a place in TX that can widen them. What do think 10-10.5 in's and will they fit. By the way I put the 315's on the 17x9's dont look too bad. But I want to do it right.
