Default Stand Alone fuel system question.

Hey guys,

I just got done w/ the independent fuel system for the nitrous and was wondering what kind of benifit I would get from running C16 in the cell.

Here's my setup:
Gen VI 502"
10.0:1 compression
Comp Cam XE294HR cam
Accel single plane intake manifold
1000cfm TB
FAST ecu w/ wideband
GMPP HEI distributor
MSD 6A box w/ Blaster3 coil
NGK plugs gapped at .033
NX Stage 6 plate kit

I was running the fuel for the nitrous off my fuel rail, but did not have enough pump to keep up and was triggering the fuel pressure safety switch, it felt like it was surging. With a 100hp jets I was pulling out 2*, and 4* on 150hp jets. I know that the leaded fuel will kill the wideband overtime, but I'm willing to accept that.

Here's my question.

What benefits will I get from running higher octane fuel for the nitrous. Will I be able to add a degree or two of timing? Or is it just a cushy feeling knowing I have "race gas".

Thanks,

c-16 Fuel you should be able to run a large shot with out detentation. But it could wipe the o2's.

Another option is unleaded race gas... VP makes one called Performance Unleaded, it's supposed to be comparable to VP110 but without the lead.

Hey Jeremy or Ricky,

How much do you guys sell C16 or the VP110 unleaded out at the track?

I'm racing on Saturday but will go out tomorrow night to get some fuel so I can see if there's any leaks in the fuel system.

Can I have you guys order a 5 gallon drum of a VP fuel of my choice? Can you check on prices for a 5 gallon drum a "Motorsport 109".

I was told the highest octane VP had that was unleaded was 109. The can I bought was $40 for 5 gallons, but I think it was mispriced.

Too much octane can drown a low compression motor or so I've heard. I'm at 11:1 cr and I run 104 no lead in the cell. I've sprayed a 225 shot w/ no kr. Most speed shops have 102 to 105 no lead. A gallon of it lasts a long time but I mostly spray at the track.

How much timing do you take out w/ a 225 shot w/ 104 octane?

NOt sure on the gas sales, I do not do that side of things. And yes if you put to much octane were it is not needed the car will run slower than if it had the proper fuel octane.

I'd like to know also.

I've always heard the general rule of thumb was to take out 2* for every 50hp worth, so w/ running C16 in the stand alone fuel cell I can take out 1* for every 50hp, or what??

The dyno would be a good place to find out. Add timing till it quits making more power or shows kr. With less timing you can run a little leaner, that's what my truck seems to like.
