Default question about wheel size and speedometer

I am wanting to put some 305/45/18 Nitto DR on my car, which are obviously bigger than the stock tires. however, up front i will be running 245/45/17, which is within like 0.1 inches of the stock tire diameter. my question is which axle does the speedometer read to get the mph of the car? i want it to be as accurate as possible and am wondernig if i can get away with running some fat meats out back with stock diameter in the front without having to recalibrate for tire sizes, thanks!

The speedometer reads through the transmission, so therefore the rear tires. Also everything i've heard say's to try and keep the front and rear diameters the same or as close as possible or your ABS won't work right and the light will come on. Look in the "Does this fit" thread at the top of this forum, there is some good info about this in there somewhere, may have to look through several pages, but it's in there somewhere.
