Default Worst that can happen with TDC valve spring swap

So if I'm off a cycle and the piston is down in the cylinder will the vavle drop enough that I need to take the head off to retrieve... or can I just hold the vavle up by hand and turn over the motor to bring it back up to put the spring on??

I am thinking of doing the springs this weekend and the cam next weekend so It would be easy if I could use the cam dot as reference but I won't have the front of the car off to do that....

Thanks!

Much easier to put the cam first. With cover off and dot to dot, #1 and #6 at TDC change those, then follow the sequence by rotating clockwise 90* at a time.

Thats how I did my swap, no problems here. Might have to tap a few of the keepers w/ a ballpeen other than that piece of cake.

Cool I was just trying to do it in stages but I'll just do it all at once. But would the valve fall past the head if the piston was all the way down?
