How To Mount Bottle In Hatch Above Gas Tank?
I removed the carpet to take a look at how much space I have between the body and the gas tank, and it doesn't look to be very much at all? What type/size of screws are you guys using to secure the brackets? (I'm using the regular NX brackets currently)
I've done a few searches but haven't been able to come up with any good info... I'm going to mount the bottle in the spare tire area but I would also like to have the ability to mount it in the hatch when I want to show off my setup

I mounted mine in the hatch above the gas tank. I Took the four screws that came with the brackets and welded them onto the hatch under the carpet ( very carefully, the gas tank sits about 2 in below). Then poke the holes for the bolts to come through the carpet mount and done. Hope this Helps

Why drill through your deck and risk puncturing the tank? There's an easier way. Get yourself a piece of 1/2 inch plywood large enough to use as a base to bolt your bottle onto. Mount your bottle on the plywood, then gorilla glue/epoxy it to the deck. You can then put your carpeting back on top. That way you don't drill through your deck and you have a nice neat appearance...

Thats weird? I didnt have any problem mounting my 360 Bottle Heater bracket with the supplied bolts. I would just use some short self tapping screws, that way you can insure that your drill bit doesnt go into the gas tank.

Thanks for the info guys... I was just wondering what methods people used to secure the brackets. I know of two guys personally that just screwed theirs to the body but both of them were '98's so I wasn't sure if tank clearances were any different between the plastic and steel ones.
The plyboard idea sounds like a good idea!

I have mine above the gas tank, but i removed the gas tank when i drilled through. The gas tank would not fit back up with the supplied NX hardware so i cut the bolts flush with the nuts. Gas tank fit right back up. Do NOT drill without taking the tank out.

Thats clean, but I don't see any half inch of carpet sticking up from the plywood under the carpet. It looks like it was just bolted to the body?

I drilled through mine with the gas tank in it. I just took it slow with a nice new bit and started with small bits and worked up to 1/2 drill bit. I used rivet rubber nuts to mount mine in this location. You can get these from McMaster-Carr for ~$8 for 5 of them. These slide into the holes that you drill and then compress and expand as you tighten the bolt in them. I have had mine in for ~3 years now and had no problems with them. Very easy to install and no dropping the tank. If you can drill 4 holes carefully and tighten a bolt then you are set. The part number is 93495A431 and their website is http://www.mcmaster.com/ .

I removed the child seat anchor on the pass. side and bolted it there and just angled the bottle towards the drivers side. It ended up being at roughly a 45 degree angle. Re-used the torx head bolt as well.

WE moved the carpeting back and used a small welder to weld four bolts to the floor with their threaded ends sticking up. We then cut a small X in the carpet where the bolts were trying to come through the carpet. Then we just placed the mount on the bolts and tightened the bolts up.
