How ot remove stickum from headlight covers?

How ot remove stickum from headlight covers? Its a light gray tape like stuff from headlight covers on a 97 Camaro. bout 1/16 inch thick slightly spongy stuff. how do you remove the stuff without marring up the flat black paint on the inside of the headlight area? Alcohol, heat gun? scared to try the heatgun on the plastic

I would try alcohol first (maybe use a credit card (or similar piece of plastic) to scrape it off), shouldn't hurt things even if it doesn't work. Auto stores also sell a sticker/pinstripe removal kits with a small scraper that doesn't hurt the surface. Kit also usually comes with some liquid removal of sorts. Hope this helps.
