Default Reflashing the PCM, How does that work?

To make a long story short, Chevy dealer did a LS6 conversion on my 04 GTO. Part of this was sub-contracting to Ed Wright for a mail order tune. I have decided to get a dyno tune to replace the mail order tune for various reasons. The new tuner has requested that I have the dealer reflash the PCM back to stock before I go there. How does the dealer do this? Can any dealer do it or does it have to be a Pontiac dealer? The Chevy dealer offered to do it but I want to make sure they have the right tune.

Also, any worries about driving the car with the LS6 heads and cam and a stock tune? The tuner is about 2.5 to 3 hrs from where I am so I'd have to drive a good distance with the stock tune back in. I appreciate any thoughts, comments, etc...

Any dealer with a tech2 should be able to put a stock tune back in. I would have thought the GTO would already have LS6 heads from the factory, anyway. I would think you could make it back on the 2-3 drive without to many issues, just don't get on it till its tuned.

Any GM dealer can reflash the PCM plus any "Auto Lab" type service center with SPS can reflash any stock tune. I have had my 01 truck reflashed with the 02 tune and have had the CASE LEARN (crankshaft repositioned) done at my local service center. A friend has access to a Tech2 and we checked the calibrations later and they were fine.
