Oil change after Heads, intake, LS6 PCV conv.
Sup all. Currently running Mobil 1 10-30 synthetis oil in my car. Did the whole change and started her up and idled for 10 minutes. I wanna put in some regular Penzoil for like 100 miles then I'm gonna change the oil again. Is it cool to go from synthetis back to regular oil and back to synthetic again?? I heard something about gaskets before. Patman you around ??
Such a stupid questions after ripping apart an engine lol.
thanks

You may have problems with oil leaking from the rear main after switching back and forth between synthetic and dino oil as they have different sealing abilities. When you switch quickly to such different blends the gaskets cannot compensate quickly enough. Again, you may or may not have this problem, it's always a risk though.

You'll be fine. Synthetic oil will only cause leaks in a improperly maintained engine that has been run on regular oil for overextended amounts of time. The seals and gaskets are built up with carbon, combustion byproducts and sludge. The Synthetic oil especially ester based like Redline, will slowly clean the sludge etc... from the seal and allow it to seep or leak. If your gaskets and seals are in good shape and you change your oil frequently you should have no problem.
stang killer, Using conventional oil only on track days and synthetic for the street makes no damn sense at all!!!!!!! You would want synthetic for the track.
