I was on the highway when I accelerated from 60 to 90 mph when I started to hear a rattle the rattle got worse and worse after I drove it for another 10 minutes got to work parking lot turned off the car and it would not start. The starter would try to engage but the car wouldnt start. So I had the car towed to the house after work and I look under the car and sure enough the Flywheel was broken into 3 pieces.

My only question is why would this happen?

What flywheel do you recommend?

Where should I get it from?

My car STOCK with 12,500 miles when tranny was removed had 3 1" cracks heading from each bolt-hole to the ring. The Cracks were only .5" away from it at the time of removal. This issue is very common but most don't know it cause they can't see it. I had one of the "GM RE-DESIGNED" Flexplates from the beginning too.

My suggestion is get the TCI and never worry about it again. Nice thing about the TCI is if you change tranny's it can adapt to some extent.

I had a flexplate break at the track when my car was only a couple months old.

The late '00 & and up cars have a lighter weight flexplate that is very prone to do this.

The TCI is a good choice, or at least a 98-99 style stock one (what I have). Back then no one made a SFI one.

same story with the cracking ..i guess im gonna be buying another too i just got a new gm one but hell when the tranny blows ill put it on my list
