Default Comp Cam numbers question...

I've decided on a standard split 224 cam on a 114 lsa, as everybody seems to love them. I was under the impression that this was a Comp grind. Is that true?

http://compcams.com/Technical/Curren...ML/200-203.asp

That's a link for comps gear, but I'm either blind, stupid (or any combination of the two), or they don't have a 224. Can somebody point me in the right direction?

Is the 224 a TR grind? I know I've seen a few different ones, some with a little more lift than the others. Is there a consencious on which is better?

Thanks.

yes the TR224 is a TR designed cam ground by comp cams. but there are other 224 type cams. http://www.vincihighperformance.com/...%20LS1%202.htm like vinci's 055 and 056 cam.

check the comp lobe profile in the cam guide (sig) for the XE and XE-R 224 lobes. also check the 224 TR lobe in the TR230 cam card. you can see the subte differences.

Thanks. I thought I had all this **** figured out, but now I'm feeling hesitant again. I know deep in my bones that everybody loves the tried and true TR 224, so I'm just going to stick with it. It's the most power I can make while staying smog legal, so that deflates all my arguments against. Plus I've been putting this off for 3 months already. The time for action is here.

It's going to be a new car. Headers, 224 cam, and tune. Still thinking about the underdrive pullies. I really love my AC and radio, and there is a LOT of traffic in SoCal. That means a lot of time idling and using both.
