Default Exhaust insulation

JC Whitney sells a spray on exhaust insulation. Anyone used it or heard of how effective it is? There is a thread in the V8RX7 forum about exhaust wrap. Seems like most don't like it.

I wouldn't do this. Header wrap, maybe. But with the ceramic coated and stainless steel headers I would not think you would need to do the wrap. The whole idea with the wrap is to keep the heat in the pipe. With the materials used on LS1 headers this is not needed.

I was thinking of using it on the exhaust running through the tranny tunnel in my RX7. It gets hot in there !!!!! Just want to know if the stuff is very effective?

Yes it makes quite a difference in underhood temps too. On a motorcycle it is alot cooler at stoplights especially if you are modded. The radiant heat is reduced a ton. Im talking the wrap though. If you use it under the car, you might consider using the sheet type wrap with clips. Its ugly but it wont get wet and come loose, if clamped right. The wrap will.
