Default Degreeing Camshaft Help

I will be recieving my LE AFR heads, and my Bauer cam soon, for my 383 lt1, and wanted to double check the degreeing of the camshaft, to make sure everything is put together properly. I searched various sites that explain how this is done, the problem is they all show how to do it with the heads on the block, but my heads are off the engine. Can anyone please be kind enough to explain to me how this is done. I already purchased a cam degree kit. Thank You for your time, it is very much appreciated.

you just need to bolt a plate with a bolt using the head bolts to find true top dead center (Where the piston stops)
