can i go from sythentic to regular oil?

Default can i go from sythentic to regular oil?

i've always heard thats bad to do, but walmart is telling me that i should go from sythentic to regular oil to maybe stop some leaks...i've allways heard that was not something you wanted to do. what do you guys think?

It won't hurt anything, per se, but you will lose the benefits of synthetics. On higher mileage engines that have started to develop leaks switching to conventional may slow down the leaks. This is because synthetics are more "slippery", and while this is great to reduce friction and free up horsepower, it also makes it easier for the oil to find the leaks.

i never use synthetics. it is a lot of money for little to no gain in mainly daily driven cars.

so i say switch

Correct me if im wrong but since synthetics reduce friction a lot better wouldnt that be a lot better on engine wear? Especially on a daily driven car?

not necisarily because they dont stick to the engine parts as well so they actually wear about the same
