Default For anyone on the fence about getting a ported throttle body.

I just sold my Shaner S3 and put a stock throttle body back on. The difference is night and day. I didn't notice so much when I went from a stock TB to the Shaner (maybe because the change was gradual as the computer learned it) but vice-versa is a big difference.

I'm an automatic and here's what I noticed straight off the bat:

Part throttle downshift takes a little longer
Part throttle doesn't pull as hard as it did
WOT downshift takes a little longer as well
WOT doesn't pull as hard as it did either

Car feels strange now without it, but oh well - the time has come to demod. So if you're wondering if a ported TB is worth it - yes, yes it is.

Just my experienced opinion.

i agree i noticed a great mid-range gain w/ the Shaner S2 on my zoh. very well worth the $120.. one of the cheaper bang for the buck mods.

You must have a sensitive butt if you can feel 5-8 rwhp.

Like I said, I didn't notice much of a difference when I went from stock to ported. However, going from ported to stock, there is a noticeable difference. It literally feels like the car is choking somewhat. Which makes sense being that the TB is more restrictive now.

Was this with a cable driven TB? I just sold my Shaner Ported TB too from my truck. I had a Drive by wire TB ported by shaner, and the PCM just did not agree with it with my cam and all. I liked the throttle response, but part throttle areas, it idled erratically.

Yes, it's cable driven. I once had an issue with my first Shaner S2 with it idling correctly, but Shaner fixed it - no problem. Never had any issues with the S3 I just sold.
