Rare Hugger Orange: should I mod it?
I just found out that I have a reasonably rare LS1.
A member on the boards (Thank you Sebring 00) helped me identify the production number of my car. I know there were around 1200 Hugger Orange cars made, but with the exact configuration I bought (All factory options, including SLP chrome wheels), seems like there are only 49 of them known to exist.

Question is: I would love to modify my car further (Headers, ORY, Catback), however do you guys think I should mod her?
I always keep all stock parts.

How many miles are on the car - if it is not really low (< 10K) I would say mod away!! If it is an everyday driver you won't get top dollar for it anyway. If you are capable of locking it away for 20 yrs with 6,000 miles or something you might make a little.

She was once a daily driver, but I have made her a weekend car. She has 82K on her now, but in pristine condition. People think she is new, and there is not much to argue about other than the odometer.
Is there much loss if I just keep all the stock parts?

The chances of actually making money on a car are pretty slim. And the car would have to be 20+ years old (usually) and low milage. Enjoy your car. Screw trying to make money out of it, unless that is your one and only reason for getting a vehicle.

Dude, are you a car dealer? Did you buy you car just to sell it, or did you buy it for a "toy?" If you bought it because you really wanted the car and to have fun, mod that **** to hell!! Screw trying to get rich off of it! I can' t stand when someone buys a car and is afraid to mod it and/or drive it! I didn' t spend $23k on my car to let the damn thing rot. It' s an 01 with 95k miles on it, it been through over a dozen states mutiple times, it' s been rode hard and put away wet. I wouldn' t do anything to hurt it, but I use it for what I bought it for. I don' t see why that is such a problem for some people. I can MAYBE understand if the car is a one off or one of less than 10 or something, and it' s a museum quality piece. Other than that, drive and mod the damn thing!

with 82K miles on it, no collector will be interested in it for at least 20 years....when it is restored. Have fun with the car, let someone else worry about restoring it later.
I have a hugger 99 SS, 1 of 22 with the Bilstein suspension and all SLP options. I definitely will modify it!

something you should consider for ever car that's mod and stand's up to see life 30 years latter another 50 are rooted to nothing because somebody didn't take the time to enjoy it and mod it to make it something speacil to them. pretty much if you want mods do it you'll never fully be happy with out it and if you do mod it you'll enjoy for year's to come and chances are if teh motor or tranny goes in 10 year's you won't junk the car.

There is a reason they didn't make many like it: no one wanted it.
every time i see a nice 30 yr old classic car with low miles...i think of the old fool who bought it to save for someone else to enjoy it.

But for those who remember, it was done intentionally for only one year in limited production to pay tribute to the 69' models that originally came in that color.
And, yea I guess even if I tried I couldn't keep her stock if I wanted... Far too much pressure from these forums
