Default Did i break a rod or spin a bearing?

I have a 98 z with 90000 miles and full bolt ons. Two months ago I had the complete valve train done with new cam 224/224 new pushrods, lifters, springs, slp oil pump etc. The other day I started my car heard a slight tapping noise so I turned it of and checked under the hood. I saw nothing loose but checked the oil and it was a little low. I filled the oil with mobil-1 and restarted the car and now it taps like a ****** sucker! It gets louder with revs, but I notice a slight drop in oil pressure (very slight). I can feel the tapping coming from under my intake maifold when I place my hand on it. Is my motor gone? How much to fix if its a spun bearing I hear thats the worst case scenarion?

Pull the valve covers off and check to see if a rocker arm bolt has come loose.

Drain the oil. Check the drain plug for metal. It's alot easier than dropping the oil pan.
I destroyed two rod bearings and had a crap load of metal shavings.

Could be other things but that's how mine acted.

If a rod broke you would hear a lot more than just tapping.

Like they said, the rod isnt likely broken, but you may very well have spun a bearing, especially if you were low on oil. The fact that your ol pressure if off now only points more strongly towards a spun bearing
