Default Keyless Entry?

I just bought a 1996 Firebird with power locks and everything but it does not have keyless entry or at least the guy did not give me the switch. How do I find out for sure if it has keyless entry and if it does not How do I uprade and put keyless entry on it?

Thanks,

You should be able to add an aftermarket system for 99-149 dollars.

I'm not sure if the system are different between LT1 and LS1, but you can try this:

1. Put your key in the ignition.
2. Turn the key to RUN.
3. Turn the key to OFF.
4. Remove the Radio Fuse.
5. Turn the key to ACC.

Count the number of chimes. If it chimes once, you do not. If it chimes twice, you do.

Here is an exerpt from my owner's manual.

If it is the same for your car, then it must have come with keyless entry. You can download your owner's manual here if you don't have one.

You can order a new Keyless Entry Fobs & Batteries from http://www.gmpartsdirect.com for $36.87 (P/N 16245100) or try your luck on eBay. http://search.ebay.com/_Parts-Access...QQsofocusZmppf I got mine for $29.95 plus $4.95 shipping.

You can find out how to program it here: http://installuniversity.com/install...ar/key_fob.htm

Hope this helps!
