Default Which Hal Springs for a 408 Iron 300# or 325#

As the title says, I am just about to order a set of Hal R's and Hal springs. I have an iron block and wasn't sure if I should get the 300# or the 325#. I don't want it too soft and on the other hand, I don't want it to harsh either.

Thanks
Mark

I just did the 325# fronts w/the 90/10 12 way Hal R's under an aluminum block. I went w/the heavier fronts as not to bottom out on the collectors/pan. They're stiff but that's what I was after.

I'd do the 325's w/an iron block if it were me....

That was the setup I was considering, I just didn't want the front too stiff. I have a BMR K-Member, A/C removed, Air system removed and the sway bar removed to try and off set some of the weight from the iron block. What was your old setup and how much did your 60' times drop?

i also picked up the 325 for my car with an aluminum block still

i have a 6 speed car and how MADMAN explained it to me was
auto with all weight reduction on the front go with 275s
stock wieght auto or manual with weight reduction go with 300s
stock wieght manual go with 325s

reason manuals want more spring is you want more stored energy to hit the tire harder
i have no ac right now but will probably put it back next summer

since you have the kmember and what not you can get away with the 300s on an auto and a iron block but if you liek to drive the car and for a lil piece of mind knowing that you wont bottem out the shocks gets the 325

Setup wise or time wise?? I have only made 2 passes so far before I broke my rear. It ran 11.17 with the full interior on 17's with a DA of 3000'. My a/f was way off at 11.9:1. I am trying to get back to the track this weekend with slicks to see if I can rip off a mid 10 sec pass. Temps are alot cooler now.

if you plan to have your fronts off the ground i'd get 325#. im think the 300# would bottom that engine is heavy.

I ordered the 300# Springs. I figured the weight I saved from the shock and springs, k-member, sway bar, a/c, headers and air pump stuff has to weigh more than the difference in the blcok, plus, I have a light weight rotating assembly and a converter that weighs 20# less than stock. It doesn't feel front heavy with my BMR lowering springs and doesn't bottom out ever. What is the spring weight of the BMR's? 300# or more?? If they don't work out I will just sell them and buy new ones, they are only a little over $100 for the set.
