Well any old laptop will upload tunes but trying to log is a different story. I had a Pentium 100mhz laptop that was too slow to log with. I think if you had a Pentium II 300 mhz or better then you would be ok.

Ebay has tons of them for 149 bucks with Pentium II, 6 gig hard drive, 64mb ram, etc.

No problems here using a Toshiba 550 mHz, 192 MB RAM, 5 GB hard drive, Windows XP with HPTuners ver 1.7. I have not tried HPT ver 2.0 yet.

2.0 has slightly different requirements now...straight from the new help file

System Requirements

HP Tuners VCM Suite has been designed to work with Microsoft Windows® 98, ME, NT4, 2000, XP or newer.

Minimum

350 MHz CPU
64 Mb RAM
Microsoft Windows® 98
Serial Port* (Version 1 Serial Interface Only)
USB Port (Version 2 USB Interface Only)

Recommended

650 MHz CPU
128 Mb RAM
Microsoft Windows® 2000/XP
Serial Port* (Version 1 Serial Interface Only)
USB Port (Version 2 USB Interface Only)
*If you are using a Version 1 Serial (RS232) Interface and do not have a native serial port you can use a USB to Serial adapter.

Use only quality USB adapters such as the SocketCom PCMCIA card adapter or Keyspan USB-Serial adapter (part # USA-19HS).

Use of poor quality adapters will result in poor performance, data corruption or Windows "Blue Screen".
