Noob questions :)
Hay there everybody. Ever since they came out, I have thought that the LS1 cars were God's gift to man. When it came time for me to buy my first car, i unfortunatly had to settle for a 4v 4.6 ford. Its OKaaaaa, but im not gonna waste my money modding it. (est cost for 12's $11k)
I figgure that if i were gonna spend 11k on a car, it might as well be an ls1, cuz as you all know, they were born of the parents Kick, and A$$.
My question is, What are some things i should be aware of when looking for an LS1 car (prolly gonna be a 98, or 99) Iv always been a fan of the Trans Am's, no matter what year, but id assume they would be a little more expensive. Im prolly gonna be able to put out about $8000, $9000.
And, getting a little ahead of myself, After i get the car, i believe ill have about $2000, $3000 for mods. Where would i start? What would get me the most bang for the buck, as it were. Basicly, i want a 12 second Daily Driver. it doesnt have to be low, but able to run pritty consistant 12's. How much modding would i have to do to a stock LS1 (prolly camaro) to achieve that.
Thanks again,
Andy.

I would try for a 99 because it has a lot more going for it. For 3k I would pick up a used ls6 intake, a mid size cam like a F13 from futural, and some long tube headers. My friend with those mods and a true dual exhaust and 3500 TCI stall runs 12.2 pretty consistent.

I've got a 2000 TA with the mods listed below. Before the cam, I went high 12.4's to low 12.5's pretty consistently. Haven't had it to the track yet since the cam and tune so I'm not sure what it would run now.
