Default 4L80E converter w/dual element stator

I just picked up a rebuilt 1993 4L80E for cheap to have as a spare.
Looking in the converter I see it has a dual element stator.
How does this differ from a single element stator?
Is one better than the other? Can you take a converter with a dual element stator and swap it with a single?
This came out of a 1993 one ton van.

the dual stator is not new, but it's purpose was to extend the torque output of the torque converter. the problem is that they are not as strong as the single. lt will work fine on a stock LS-1

I'll never put it in my camaro thats for sure. I picked it up to use as a spare for my '92 dually, I guess it's not the best for that application.
Thanks for the information.
