Default Going from 2:73s to 3:42s. Questions....

I have a 98 T/A (98,000 miles)with the 4l60e tranny(auto). I want to wake the car up a bit and put some 3:42s in the rear. Now comes the questions...Do i have to change the shift points on my tranny for the new gears? What else do i need to worry about with this install? Speedo change? Will a hand held tuner take care of all of this? Thanks in advance for any help.

Dino

I just have some bolt on stuff, pretty basic. Lid, long tube headers, and off road y. I know i should go with a stall first but i want to get the gears out of the way.
