Anyone use a vacuum pump for their brakes???
I posted in here because I figure the majority of you guys in here would know. I no longer have a LS1 in my car. I am going with a SBC motor, and want to try and keep the power brakes. Can I just use a vacuum pump, or would I just be better off going with the Billingsley manual brake kit?

problem is that you need the brakes at idle...which a vacuum pump isnt pulling that much vac at idle. if you pulley it so it does...then its spinning the pump too fast at higher rpms.

Ok, thanks Ken. I would spend less money on the manual brake kit than I would on a vacuum pump.

PMed you back
I have a few people interested. It is almost complete, with the TSP cam and Comp valvetrain, minus injectors, rails, and induction. I am in the process of building a SBC motor with a local shop here by me called Dominant Motorsports. They are not a sponsor, but they should be soon. I am gonna stick to bracket racing and have the car certified for NHRA.

i also will be goin with the manual booster, ever since i put them 4 piston caliper strange brakes on the car i can almost never get the line lock to hold the car, i have to rev the pis out the car and smash the **** out the pedal and hit the linelock and sometimes it holds, im tired of this crap, half the time car gets sideways from the front tires rolling and not holding. i hope the manual booster fixes it
