Default What's the going rate to have a block machined, assembled, & balanced?

For instance, LS2 machined for a 4.000" stroke crankshaft, then assembled and balanced with pistons/rings, crankshaft, connecting rods, etc. (a complete shortblock) Trying to decide if I want to buy the parts seperately and assemble it myself, have it done locally, or buy a complete assembled shortblock. Thanks.

Assemble and balance would for sure apply to me, but what about the others? The only other thing that would need to be done in my case is clearancing for oversized crank. The cylinder bore will remain the same.

I was quoted over $1000 for just balance and assemble, no machining. It is a local place, non sponsor. Their rate is $90/hr, at 8 hours for assembly, then $350 minimum for the balance. Bullcrap if you ask me. I would love to ship it all to HPE for assembly, but it would end up costing about the same with shipping charges.
