Default Noob LS2 heads questions....

You know i dont own an LS1 (yet) but it seems to me that its even cheaper to build then my 5.0 with a set of LS2 heads only being 800 dollars on ebay, and not rare find. My question is what is the typical RWHP gain with LS2 heads and if you really cant afford the upper priced heads will a ported LS2 head flow similar to the aftermarket heads? are these the chevy equivlent of swapping GT-40 or GT-40 P heads on to a stock 5.0 beacuse if they are thats not too bad considering there aluminium correct?

LS2 heads are LS-6 heads. If your swapping the heads only, onto a LS-1 motor, the gains will be minimal. Not really worth the time and money it would take to swap them. I'd buy the heads, then have them ported. Then you'd have something. I wouldn't compare these heads to swapping out stock 5.0 heads for GT-40's. More like swapping stock 5.0's for Cobra heads, or the equivilant "barley better" ford head.

LS6 without the expensive lightweight valves.
