Default ...yet ANOTHER "what is this thing?" thread...

What the hell is this thing? There are two rubber hoses attached to it. I think they might be vacuum hoses. There's a metal clip attached to it. I don't know where it goes. I think it was somewhere around the back of the motor.

Thanks.

yes they are vacuum hoses. That is part of the AIR. The metal clip slides into the bottom of the intake on the driver side. You'll see a slot just above the last 2 coil packs.
Check the sticky (mod guide: induction and exhaust) at the top of the page for more pics of the AIR. The write up is at the bottom of the 1st page. That should help you alot.

yep part of the air system, should be a 15mm bolt that holds it to the back of the drivers side head

Checking the sticky in a second. Just to throw this out there, I removed the AIR system. Do I need to plug any holes that this or the air system made? (I'm not by the car at the moment)

you will need to at least plug the lines back up. The shorter one, i put on one of the coil pack bolts, and i just left the longer one hooked up to the back of the intake where it normally goes.

That's the solenoid the PCM opens to allow vacuum to the AIR valve to allow O2 into the exhaust. I believe the inline piece is just a check valve.
