Default head gasket questions

I have a 98Z with the 806 peremiter style heads and i was wondering if i could run the MLS head gaskets on it?

You can weld the "notch" up on the bottom of the head, do a clean up mill pass, and then you can run the MLS gasket.

Please don't shoot the messenger, but this is something I saved that Brian Tooley posted some time back when a similar question was asked. I kept it for the gasket part numbers.

Brian stated:

Do not use MLS gaskets on heads with notches

Do not weld the notches shut on heads, it removes the heat treat from the heads and then blows gaskets anyway.

Fel Pro makes a 6.0 graphite gasket 9199PT

GM makes a 6.0 graphite gasket 12558936

We have done this on many sets, we have not seen any issues resulting from the small amount of welding to fill in the notch. This is a cold weld and does not comprise the intergrity of the head. Now, excuse me while I load the gun! LOL just kidding.
