Default Texas Giant in 408 on its way!!!

Whats up guys,I finally took the plunge and ordered the TX Giant cam for my LME 408.Talked to Tony this afternoon, and he didnt hesitate on me running this big of a cam with his AFR205s.He said the heads have alot of low speed velocity, that it enables me to run this big of a cam in my 408.I suggested that a 244/248 114 should be used, but he said that there will be no torque diffrence between the 2 cams, just the bigger will have a little more power, plus I want that nasty idle.I hope it sounds good, but also hope I get 500 to the ground, what do u all think, been trying to find a vid of the TX Giant cam but have been unsuccesful. If anybody has a vid posted up,Thank guys,Anybody has any ideas how much HP/TQ I should have?

Sounds good I have the 225's and I am pretty sure the 205's flow very well. Don't know for sure if it will hit 500 with an A4. Wish you luck. One thing is for sure. That thing will haul *** and give some awesome track times.

I know I'm happy with mine!! You'll like the idle - nasty is a good description. I don't have dyno numbers - I tune at the track - but you can see mine is making good power. We are putting some 1-7/8 stepped to 2 inch Kooks on it (had Jet Hots in the below times) and my head porter is doing up a even better set of heads based on better cores. I can't wait to see what it does in the spring!

I think the giant cam is a 242/244 112lsa right? I ran a simulation on Engine Analyzer Pro (not to be compared to Desktop Dyno, because DD is horrible) and got 605bhp/601ft-lbs w/ 11.5:1 compression and 93 pump gas. This is with 1.75" LT headers (open), UD pulley, and a LS6 intake.

Peak HP was just before 6k rpm. For sh*ts n grins I stuck a 250/250 110lsa cam in there just to see what happened. Picked up 5bhp and lost 3ft-lbs. So I think anything in that range is gonna be similar.

I also swapped in the AFR 225's and on the 242/244 112lsa cam it would pick up 12bhp/16ft-lbs, and with the 250/250 110lsa cam it would pick up 14bhp/18ft-lbs. No loss in lower end torque on either cam with these heads vs. the 205's, and peak hp was 6250rpm.

You might want to go with the 225's, but if you already have the 205's, i'm sure you'll still hit your 500rwhp mark.

i just ordered a 248/252 6XX/6XX on a 113 +4 LSA... i think somebody should plug it into desktop dyno for me the lifts should be around 620, not sure as they were going to decide for me and match to my heads the best. mine is a HPE 408..

as for hitting 500 RWHP... you shouldnt have a problem.. HPE hit like 515 through their automatic with a cam a little smaller than yours..

I want good power, but also want that nasty idle, just for kicks.I know I can probably go faster with a smaller cam,but o well its still going to be fast,if not a 200 shot of the juice will be there to help!

You'll like that size Cam.We run 244/248's with .620 lifts on 113 durations in our 408 Cars. They ussually put out 520-540hp and 480-500tq.The Cam may seem big but they idle pretty good at 850rpm.

Slowhawk-thats what I`m hoping for power wise. I figure with 90 set-up ported and all the others I`ve got I should get there. Ben said the same about the 244 248 612 615 113lsa cam. Good power and drive-ability. I can`t wait! I will get them to video the dyno pulls. Then when I spray it you had better look out!!

I'm running a Comp XER grind, 242/248, 608/612 on a 112 lsa. It idles at 850 to 900 rpm and is great for a daily driver.

I put down 491.77/486.68 NA. Keep in mind that this is w/out a underdrive pulley and the C5 has IRS.

A friend of mine has a 402 stroker w/ the Texas Giant Cam in his C5 and put down 520 rwhp / 490 tq.

I'm thinking of going w/ a bigger cam, but not sure it is gonna be worth the time/money for the hp.

I'm running the same cam with higher lift on each side and I wouldn't quite say it's daily driveable in traffic. Maybe that's just b/c I have the stock 3.42 M6 gears though
