Default Any 18x11 Fikse owners in here? (f-body's)

I picked up some Fikse FM10's The fronts are 17x9 1/2 & the rears are 18x11's. What tire size would ya'll recomend for the rears? I was thinking about the Nitto Drag radial 305/35/18. I know there arent many choices to chose from when it comes to tires that size, and fitment. I dont want it to look stupid with some little mickey mouse tires on the rear either. So what size tire would you pick? Not worried about traction or etc, I have draglites for that. I just want a good looking, right size tire that will fit good. I was also looking at the 315's but didnt think they would fit nicely. BTW- the car has been lowered an inch. Lets here my options.

I know that the Nitto tires are narrow compared to my G-Force KD's. On my 315/35/17's Nitto's I had zero problems with them, but my KD's are about 1" wider. I had to roll the fenders and beat in the inner wheel well to make them fit (both my SS & T/A).

The taller tire, if you go xxx/35/18, will make your speedo off a hair and you might have to roll your fenders as well as beat in the inner wheel well like I did on my cars.

Here is a good site for tire height (if you wanted to know):

http://www.car-videos.net/info/tirespecs.asp

Hope that helps,
Craig.

Thanks for the heads up. I can change the speedo with HPtuners so that isnt going to be an issue. I just want a tire that will be wide enough & look good. If 315's will fit then thats the route Ill go. I hate to buy a pair of tires then them not fit. Afterall these are 18x11's so thats my problem.

What would a 295/35/18 look like on the rear or an 11in wheel?

Might look a little funny being smaller then the wheel, and a little taller.
The 305 is a little small for that wheel but will work.

The Nitto 315/30/18 is 25.44" and my 315/35/17 is 25.68" so mine are actually taller. So it should work now that I look at that site.
Just if you happen to get other tires then Nitto's you might have to watch out. The tire companies have their own idea of tire size. Like I said before, with my 315 Nitto's fit with no problems, but them fat butt KD's I had to beat in the wheel well and roll the fenders.

I would say stick to a 30 series tire for that height, if you want to stay close to stock height. I know the speedo is no problem for you, just clearance might be a problem.

I'm sure someone will chime in here soon.

Peace,
Craig.

I went Michelin Sport 315/30/18 on my 18X11.5 Profil 13's. Looks lovely. Don't have no pics though. She's wrapped for the winter.

No problem on helping out buddy!

I just looked at Tire Rack, found they have BFGoodrich g-Force T/A Drag Radial in 315/30/18 (great tire BTW just wider then Nitto I beleive):

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=3

I didn't see but one tire there for 315/35/18 (road course).
And they don't have crap for 305/30/18! 3 tires, well 2. A left/right road race tire and a Kumho tire also.
And tires for 305/35-18 - "Sorry, no tires match your current search criteria."

You can call your local Discount Tire, maybe they have more to offer then Tire Rack?

Peace,
Craig.

Is your car lowered?

Did you have to roll your fenders and beat in your inner wheel well to make them fit?

Peace,
Craig.

I didnt really like the looks of the BFG's, & the pilot sports or outrageous $$$. Looks like ill have to go with the BFG's. They seem to be the cheapest/best. How much banging am I going to have to do to get them to fit? Also what size up front would you think would work well with the 315/30/18's? I did like the Kumho's that tirerack had 305/30/18. Not bad price either. What would they look like?

Not a **** load or anything. Get you a short handle mini sledgehammer and beat in them inner wheel wells. If you don't know where to beat them in at try a search, if not I'll snap a pic or find one and show you. The fender rolling part you "might" get away not having to do......"might."

You're going to have a trail situation when you get these on. If they start to rub pull them off and look to see where and take care of that area and move on.

With whatever size you pick for the rear you still should only get 275/40/17's for the front. Same brand if you can.

Gor for it! Get them all the way around.

But just another FYI, the Fikse's have a really really soft lip. Try to get a tire that has a nice "rim guard."
When I bought my FM5's used the fronts had Goodyear Eagle F1's. I kept getting like a curb rash without hitting a curb (rocks in the road I guess). The F1's sit inside the wheel (gay) with no rim protection. When I got the KD's on there has been no problems since. The KD's have a rim guard that hangs over the lip about 1/4".

Also mounting the rims, make sure they are careful with them, they will bend easy.

Peace,
Craig.

Do they look good? I think im down to this:

2-315/30R18 BFGoodrich g-Force T/A Drag Radial
Blackwall

2-275/40YR17 BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW
Blackwall

These should work. The Kuhmos were not in stock so In the morning Im going to order these. Does this setup sound/look right?

Nitto has a 335/30 18 out now. The way they run small, they might fit that 11.

Peace,

I rolled the fenders as a precaution and you need it if you running a 2" drop for sure. Didn't beat the inner wells though they're free and clear from that.
