Registering race cars
I am close to starting a project but have some things that worry me, I have the chance to get a non running 97 Camaro for close to nothing and plan to give it a carburated small block, possibly carb'd LS1, Th400, 12 bolt and all the usuall goodies but I'm going with a carb'd setup because of simplicity and price. But I am wondering how I would register this vehicle, I wont be able to register it upon recieving the car because it doesn't run and then after I'm finished I won't be using the ECU so it can't go through the normal OBDII test. So I'm wondering how I register it? I do want it registered so I can drive it on the street if anyone could help that would be great.

I don't know why you would even want to register it before getting it running, then time is just wasting away on your tabs. I'm pretty sure that if you have an engine swap and it isn't OBDII then they just use the actual sniffer and if you pass you pass, fail you fail, just like an older car. What county are you in?

You can swap out an engine here and NOT use the required emissions for that year (in this case 1997)? In Cali (I know I know) you can do an engine swap but the car must use the required emissions equip from the year of the car or the year the engine came from if it is newer then the car...........I am suprised the tree huggers here would allow for this.....it's I am just surprised.

Just find somewhere to register it that doesn't do inspections. Like oak harbor for example
