Default 2.73-3.73 swap... carrier??

Hey guys, I am buying 3.73's for my A4 LT1. Its stock with the 2.73's. My question is, will 3.73's fit right in the 2 series carrier, or do i have to find a 3 series?????? sorry for the dumb question

I already have a 2 series don't I? All the gears Ive seen are for a 3 series.... will 3 series gears work in a 2 series rear?

what you have to do is get 3 series gears and use a ring gear spacer or order a set of "thick" gears. they make gears thicker to use with a 2 series carrier. when you order the gears just tell them you need the thickert gears for a 2 series carrier and they will help you get exactly what you need

I think he probably meant 3 series. Basically no, standard 3 series gears will not work with the 2 series. As mentioned you can either get the thick gears that will fit a 2 series or swap to a 3 series carrier for standard gears.

I totally agree. For my 2.73 to 3.73 swap, I bought a 3-series carrier and the regular 3.73 gears.

Do your 10 bolt a favor and switch to a diff girdle while you're swapping out gears.
