what tunning could be needed for a cam swap?
what type of tunning is needed just for a cam swap, i have an A4 so i will get a 114 of some kind, haven't figured it out yet, still looking, i want to get the best out the cam, if i could get tunning down the road, i will better from it
i was wondering of what actuall can be changed, rev limiter i know so you can get most out of your cam but is that? or more?
another quick question... if i get a cam that needs some tunning and i don't get the tunning right away, how would my car run?
thanks for your help,,, i did try a search and no luck, sorry

Re: what tunning could be needed for a cam swap?
mine would run like dog sh*t without tuning... 224/224 114 cam
I had to drill the TB hole to 13/64th and turn the set screw a little over a turn to help with the idle surge(log atap numbers and get the IAC's to 20-40)
Next I added timing in the base spark park and drive tables. I added timing in the 0-1200 cells down to the .2 row. I have added 4degrees more than stock
I raised idle on edit to 1000 also, but im gonna set it back to 950 soon(some cars idle fine around 850-900 though)
A4 cam cars are hit or miss. Some idle perfect, while most need tuning and still never run perfect(mine)
I have my limiter set at 6700 and shift points at 6400-6450 since i dont like revving my motor high)
good luck and with a little work the cam can be your best friend <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" /> But usually its a PITA LOL

Re: what tunning could be needed for a cam swap?
Hey guys, I need some info about a gear and convertor change. I installed 3:73 gears and a mild 2800 convertor last week with Hypertech programming on my 98 z28. When i jump on it, it does nt want to shift unless I let off the gas. If I don t it would tach 6500 rpm without shifting. I recently had to change the PCM, and now it won t shift out of 2nd.
What gives? SES light is on.
Any help would be appreciated.
