Default LS1 Edit and my lap top

When they say I need a 232 serial port for LS1 Edit and Auto Tap is that just a standard 9 pin serial port or when I buy a computer dose it need to say it has a 232 serial port. I have a lap top with a 9 pin serial port but it dosen`t specifically say that it is a 232 serial port

If it's a male, 9-pin, D-shaped connector, then yes, it *is* a serial / RS232 port.

Also called a COM port.

Thanks, my computer manual says its a COM serial port. Cool. The only reason I bought it was for my car.
