Default My leather steering wheel

I clean and condition my leather steering wheel on my 2001 Trans Am pretty reguarly. I was hoping by reguarly doing this it would keep the leather looking new. i use Lexol cleaner and Lexol conditioner. The leather is starting to form almost bubbles like it will tear in one small section on the 12 o'clock portion of the wheel. I never even have my hands on this position. Is there anything I can use or try differently to stop this or correct this?

Anybody know off hand how much a replacement steering wheel (ebony color) for an 01 Trans Am would cost (may buy one down the road if this gets real bad)

I have the exact same problem. I have decided to re-wrap my wheel in leather form here:

wheelskins.com

They come in 2-tone, and solid color. Nice!

I've read of this happening to our steering wheels, so what I did when I first got my car was get a vynl steering wheel cover (I know, I know...). Not the ugly looking ones though, a nice black one. I have probably used Z-10 on my steering wheel 3 times and it still looks new.

Minus the Air bag? Damn cheap.
Do you live in the 'SUN' states? This is a new one on me. The door panels yes, but the steering wheel i haven't heard of.

My steering wheel still looks BRAND new at 136k miles. Not to brag though. Seems like your having a lot of sun hitting it, bakeing it. I would get one of those covers for your windsheild for when your not in your car... IDK how those work in f-bodies though.

Is the dash/pad cracked?
