Default trans selection help

so im building a 67 firebird, with a TT LQ4...the goal is for 700-800 dd hp. Might crank it up with race gas on the odd dyno day, to see if i can break the 1k mark...but this is mainly a toy. This will not be a track car. I doubt if it will ever see slix. What im having a problem with, is selecting the tranny that will kinda give me the best (or at least sacrifice the least) of everything.

What kinda success are u guys having with driving high hp cars with the th400? can a built 4l60e handle that kinda power, somewhat reliably? am i stuck using a 4l80e and sacrificing all that power?

This is my first trip into selecting and building a tranny, so i really do appreciate all the help.

Default

if you arent going to the track with slicks, you will just spin on the street so a 4l60e will work since you wont be putting much power to the ground
