Default Rear End Bearing Caps

Was told from a friend that all bearing caps for rears are matched to that individual rear. So you can't switch caps between rears or find new ones if you purchase used housing without the caps?

The caps are like a motor, once they are machined into that saddle they need to stay in that position. Use a pin punch to mark each cap 1-1 2-2.

Thanks for the response, I bought a rear that was missing them. I guess I'm screwed.
