Default A thud noise from the rear

i have a 98 A4 Trans Am, and sometimes when i'm driving slowly and take my foot of the throttle then press down lightly theres seems to be a quiet thud noise from the rear...sounds like the gears have to catch or somthing..not to sure any suggestions on what it could be and what i should do or check..
thanks

Check your trans and torque arm mount. I thought my torque arm mount was blown but it was my trans mount.
