Removing passenger side header, crossthreaded bolt hole help!
I need to remove the passenger side header because of a crossthreaded bolt hole that is causing an exhaust leak. It's the LAST bolt hole closest to the firewall, so I can't just stick a tap in there and do it. I need to know the correct size tap for the correct thread size to use inside the bolt hole. I use ARP's header bolts. Any help will be appreciated!

I dont think it would be wise to just tap it and use a bigger diameter bolt. Instead get a heli-coil kit and use that so You can use the same size bolt, plus it will be stronger.

I'm not using a bigger bolt, I'm using the same ones I used to put my headers in. If I tap it, I shouldn't use the regular bolt? How do I "hel-coil"?

if the hole is cross threaded using the same size bolt is futile, the bolt is steel the head is aluminum, the steel basically scratched out the threads, in other words there isnt enough material left in the hole to use the same size bolt.
A heli-coil is a brand name of part that replaces the threads.
You need to drill out the hole to the proper diameter then take the tap included in the heli coil kit and tap out the hole, then install the "new" threads. Then screw back in the original bolt.
Usually whenever I use anything aluminum the first thing I do is drill out all the bolt holes and heli coil them. Saves alot of headaches.
