What is meant by a intake lid? Does that mean the whole cold air package the airbox lid or just the filter?

You can opt for a cold air package such as the K&N or the Volant. However, most people buy an aftermarket lid. My .02 is that it's just personal preference if you run a K&N, Fram Air Hog, Holley Powershot or just a replacement paper filter. I don't think they really make that much difference.

well i have a stock 02 WS6 and i hear my first mod should be an intake lid so should that be a airbox lid and filter or the whole package or what would you reccomend

the filter shouldn't, but a lid should be the first mod done to you're car
