Default Fuel Guage kinda off

I was driving my camaro (94 z28) the other day and i was down to 1/4 of my gas tank... just a bit below this line the car shut down (it was outta gas) no low gas light or anything

when i fill the gas up it goes WAY past the full line... so i guess the whole thing needs to be shifted... does that happen to any of you and is there any quick fix or does it need recalibration?

I'm not sure what your calibration looks like, but HPT gives us access to that with their tuning software for LS1s. The calibration on ours looks like it is purposely set up so that at about a 1/4 of a tank, it is actually half full. Luckily, I can just change that myself. You, on the other hand...not too sure what to do. But the PCM controls that on the LS1. Maybe the LT1 is the same???

The 93' I sold a year or so ago developed the same problem. From day one when I got the car, the needle being anywhere on the "E" line meant you were walking home. Then one tank of gas suddently that "walk home" setting was at a little less than 1/4 tank.

I believe it to be mechanical in LT1 cars, unless you want a project just get used to it and start using your trip odo.

My 97 is no better - same issue. when I am just below 1/4 tank it take 13 to 14 gallons of fuel.

when i had my 94 formula, once it hit the 1/4 mark, i was looking for a gas station. my car never made it close to the E before it ran out of gas numerous times on me.

had same issue with my 94 camaro, if you didnt fill up when it got down to a quarter or less of a tank the car would just run out of gas in a matter of minutes. that gas gauge sucked and always pissed me off. sometimes i would think i was low on gas and only put 7 bucks in and she would be full, but that was also back when gas was $1.70. ahhh the good old days lol.
