Cometic head gaskets - Help quick!!!
I just got my motor ready to fire and realized a mistake on the part of my engine builder. Because of this mistake, I have to remove my intake, and drivers side cylinder head.
This motor's never been fired.
My question is, can I re-use my cometic head gasket or should I get a replacement?
The engine builder says its ok, but knowing that I want to run up to 15psi on this motor Id like a few others opinions. I dont want to reuse it if there's any possibility of compromising the gasket or seal in any way.
Im having the engine builder pay for any parts I need in order to fix this. And more than likely a small refund of some of my money.
Thanks in advance
Justin

Yes you can re-use it. Just make sure the surfaces are very very clean and the gasket itself. Use some brake clean or throttle body cleaner to degreas the areas. Torque it back down to specs. Should be fine.
btw...I have re-used mine in the past with no problems.
