Default Top Stock LS1's At Rockingham This Weekend!!

Keep watching the results this weekend at

http://www.dragracecentral.com/

There will be some very fast LS1 Top Stock cars running. Monty Bogan ran 5.9's in the 1/8th last weekend with a N/A (+.060?) 346!! Should be some exciting heads-up runs Saturday.

I'm surprised that nobody comented on Monty's 5.9. He should be running 9.3's in the quarter this Saturday. Not bad for ported factory head castings on a .060 over LS1!

They are 9" tired cars. They follow the same rules as NHRA stock eliminator cars.

5.9s in the 1/8th is hauling in one of these cars.

The rules and blueprint specs. are on IHRA.com. The IHRA allows a 10.5 tire, but I don't know of a single car that runs them. These cars sixty foot in the 1.2's on 9" tires. Monty was running 9.4's last year. The rules were changed to allow a sheet metal intake and larger throttle body on the LS1 this winter.

I spoke with Tim at Mooresville. He did all of Monty and Bo's stuff last year, but I think they changed over the winter. I think that he is still doing Paul Cambria's motors? Tim builds a lot of really fast Stock Eliminator motors. He's a nice guy too.

I've read a little here and there about Monty Bogan's car, he was movin' last year. Are those LS2 blocks or resleeved LS1/6 blocks?

I think that they are still running LS1/6 blocks. Tim told me that they are trying to get the IHRA to approve the LS2 block because rings would be so much cheaper for a 4" bore. He told me last year that he was paying $800.00+ for a set of rings!
