I'd say no, unless it makes noise. Same thing torsen says. I recently changed my rear oil and didn't use any and it's fine.
You shouldn't need it, especially if you are using a name brand synthetic. However, some GM tecs reccomend it to keep things quiet. I dump some in mine for the hell of it.
