Couple more 1/8th mile passes today
My partner carried the SS to the track one more time before a round of weight reduction next week to make sure it's still running the same. It is. 1st pass after driving an hour and a half to get to the track 1.65 60' 4.92 330' 7.72 660' @ 88.05 MPH. 2nd pass after cooling down for a half hour 1.65 60' 4.91 330' 7.70 660' @ 88.5 MPH. First time with a Pro tree today ever so he didn't load the converter up much on the line hence the off par 60' times. Temp was around 70 with thunderstorms closing in so the humidity was almost 100% but it did reward us with a tailwind instead of a headwind. Race weight was around 3650 pounds. Hopefully we'll get 100 to maybe as much as 150 pounds off the car next week and we're looking for a 125 pound driver to try the car for us. I weigh 380 and my partner weighs 300 so neither of us should be running the car. I'd sure like to see the car drop back to what it ran in great air at the end of last year before we switch motors. Don't know if it will but we're gonna give it the old college try.

Still on the stock high mileage 346 Coach. I'm actually pleased it's running as well as it is considering the mileage, race weight and weather conditions now. Loading the converter up to around 3000 before launching instead of just stabbing the throttle would have dropped the car back into the 7.60's for sure and makbe even eeked a 7.59 out of it. Like I mentioned, first time on a Pro Tree. Nothing special but there's nothing special about the car......yet.
We're going to hit the track a few more times once we get some weight off of it. I'll post up what the weight reduction does for the car. Maybe nothing as +2000DA air is only a couple of months away at this point. The track I run at is only 8 feet above sea level but in the Summer it's 90+ every day with the track temp hovering in the 130's. Couple that with nasty humidity and typically low barometric pressure and cars run like crap here in the Summer. This same car actually ran an 8.47 @ 82 MPH best one day last Summer when the actual air temp was a tad over 100 and the air was so thick with humidity that I swear you could swim in it. I've really gotten a lesson in how DA affects the car's performance in the past couple of years. What counts most is that we're having fun. I guess maybe it doesn't take much to amuse an old man, huh????
