What is the stock lifter preload range?

What is the stock lifter preload range? I've seen on this site the stock-lifter preload range being referred to as acceptable between .030"-.060", and also .050"-.100". Which is it?

Which would you opt for - a preload of .060", .080", or .105" ? (stock rockers, stock lifters)
Using a combination of pushrods (I have 7.350", 7.375", and 7.40") and .010" rocker shims, I can obtain any of those preloads above. Any benefit of one over the other?
