Cryo treating the crank?
Since I'm just a poor man and am too cheap to shell out the dough for a forged crank. I may be able to get this done for a very nice price.
First I don't know anything about cryo treating stuff except it makes it stronger. Has anyone tried this or have a reason why I shouldn't try this?
Since I'm going turbo I'm not too interested in the extra cubes of a forged crank. Just want some extra peace of mind.
thanks

Re: Cryo treating the crank?
I have Cryo Aged full rotating assemblies for SBC and have gotten extreme use out of them with no failures. We even straightened a factory cast 400 sbc cryoaged crank in press and reused in my early race motor! This motor hit 8000rpm shifts in a bracket race car every weekend. Im all for it and would you tell us who offers Cryo treatment at this time? Cryo treatment strengthens whatever you are treating on a molecular level, similar to grain on a forged piece. The surface also hardens making piece more durable and harder to machine!

Re: Cryo treating the crank?
Well I found this place online and their prices seem quite reasonable. I have emailed them requesting more info on what their prices are exactly but I did find a site where a guy had his rotors done very cheap by them.
