Default Duals vs collector dumps (race application)?

For a car that spend most of 1/4 mile from 6200-7100 rpm would you loose any hp/tq going from a 3" dual system w/ x-pipe to a muffler straight off the header collector and dumped?
The reason I ask this is because I have always heard that the X-over helps with exhaust savaging and helps with the hp/tq curves. There have been a lot of people going to a muffler dumped off the collector recently and I was wondering if they are leaving some hp/tq on the table?

In that rpm range I would think you would only gain power by getting rid of the true duals with x. Remember, the collector is everything from the beginning of the end of the primary to the muffler and depending upon your muffler choice your muffler can appear as the end of your exhaust system or an extension of your collector, or a bottle neck if the flow of the muffler is not ample. With the true duals with an x your collector is very long which will promote better scavenging in the lower rpms band, not the higher range which is more important for drag racing. I highly recommend you guys check out vizard's articles regarding exhaust systems and how they effect things.
