Default 99 TA Convertible in tank fuel pump assembly???

Anyone ever see the in tank fuel pump assy from a 99 TA convertible? Mine has a 4"dia 10" deep plastic pail mounted on 2 sliding spring loaded shafts. The fuel pump is mounted near the bottom of this pail on one side (there is a wadded up fuel sock folded in half and crammed between the pump and the pail bottom). The pail has some sort of check valve at the bottom(on the other side of the pail) that lets fuel into the pail. The car is leaning out at the top of second (car is an automatic and just ran 7.65 1/8 with a 1.67 60ft with the problem). I would like to install the walbro 340. Do other LS1's have this assy??? Can I get rid of or mod it for better fuel flow????? I can hardly believe it ran at all!!
