Do I gain anything by dumping AIR and EGR stuff?
I'm doing 02 CNC LS6 Heads/02 Cam and an 02 LS6 PCV swap in the near future (read here for my parts list and details: https://ls1tech.com/ubb/ultimatebb.p...f=1;t=009640). This cam should allow me to meet emissions without EGR and AIR (since the 02 Z06 does not have it), my question is simply is there anything to be gained by removing either or both? I know it would pretty things up and make the pax side of the engine more easy to reach (I have an LS6 intake with the EGR plugged into the PCV line). Car will be customed tuned.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,

I don't think you'll gain 1 rwhp dumping the AIR & EGR stuff. The engine compartment will look nicer, stuff will be easier to get too and that's about it <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

I still have blood on some of the hoses from scraped knuckles (where's the icon for bloody knuckles when you need it?).
Does anybody know if 02 heads even have the holes drilled in them for the EGR bracket?
Thanks guys!

The only thing you'll gain is a cleaner engine bay and a harder time passing visual inspection. Leave the stuff on.

Its not the bolts the give me trouble on the coil packs its those spikes that come out of them for no reason from what i see. If you gain anything you wont notice it. I took mine out just so i can get in and out of the engine and around it no problem.

I went ahead and eliminated the A.I.R. equip. when I put the Hooker LT`s on. (Didn`t have EGR`cause she`s an `02) Once the pump and all associated lines and hardware were gone it took some weight off the nose and freed up some space around the engine.

the spikes coming out of your coil pack mounting bolts are actually for the vette's, but GM doesn't differentiate when the setup heads, they are the points where your FRC's mount to, they have snap mounts underneath the covers

Re: Do I gain anything by dumping AIR and EGR stuff?
Anyone have a write up on removing the EGR & AIR systems? I will be doing headers next week and already have the LS6 intake on, I just wanna remove these systems...
